Infection: Positive Vibes

Prognosis: Forgetfulness

Remember: Don’t Forget!

He’s failed us in the past, he did not build a wall and did not use the military to fill the gaps. He did not use Département of Defense monies and re-appropriate them for the wall. He may fail us again. One has to ask Trump he truly learned his lesson? Does he have enough people with him to enact change for the present and does he have enough people with him to enact change for the future after he’s gone, should he not go for a third term or the infinite VP route? Is this man actually different from the one we last saw in office?

The man had been vilified as Hitler, Mussolini, and had the jornos been any bit educated at all, perhaps even something more original like King George, Philippe Pétain or perhaps the Pharaoh himself. You know, the one who was mean to the Jews and swallowed a couple of frogs and crickets. That one. The mean one. Because Trump is mean. I’ll be honest to the readers, had I been vilified as these historical characters, I’d lean into it. I would have just run with it. They adorned me with the long flowing black cape, let me wear it. That’s what they wanted anyway. Nobody gives a hoot and a half what these freaks and dysgenic think and only pay attention when it bleeds. Frankly, if Freud hadn’t been debunked years ago, I’d like to start asking questions about the nature of liberal fear, creation, cultivation and self-subjugation by the “far right” and their possible “need” to be ruled over.

But that’s a real can of worms that would require an extremely precise separation from the mimetic hazards and the gems hidden within and not something I am prepared to do now. But the point here is that without the cartoon super villain there would be no eyeballs glued to the screens and my hypothetical behavior would give them an injection of healthy and total attention. Their lamentations and outrage would fuel my popularity and cultural authority and relevance. When BLM went to burn down small towns, small business especially, I would have spent to time asking my chief of staff if he could send national guardsmen down there under title ten orders. It would have just fucking happened under pain of a public flogging and firing. Then onto the acting Chief. Short of that the guard could have just followed gubernatorial orders under my requests until federal monies could be found. Or call in a federal contractor like Constellis and just give Minneapolis the New Orleans special. Full presidential pardons to all door kickers and officers to include Chauvin. Then I’d lean into the corrupt and ideologically compromised district attorneys that refuse to prosecute and convict rioters and anarchists of BLM & black bloc, both on grounds of social or restorative justice. I’d find any which way to publicly display and shame and otherwise remove this blight on the American people. Then…

Well, you get the idea. If Trump was already Hitler, then why didn’t he just bite the bullet and begging, acting the way his base wanted? What was the hangup, and is it still there?

I back the dew

Less snakes, more pitchmen

Yes, yes. I will gladly and loudly acknowledge that last time around he was saddled with neo-cons, Zionists, globalists, and crypto-shitlibs within and without his cabinet and party. I know a great deal of his problem last time was his inability to see past his nose and family to notice the sedition in his ranks. But it was his mistake, and we had to pay for it. This time, by all accounts, he’s surrounded by less of the usual suspects (many remain), but now a new threat: the tech bros that adhere to the California ideology. The only thing we can hope for is that Trump has a better sense of who is and is not good for America.

And yet

It’s hard, even for me, to keep from taping my toe and nodding along with a small smirk on my face. There are many things I could be called, something I’m apparently, I’m not supposed to jive with that as a millennial, but left wing is not one of them despite my insistence that early American progressivism and parts of European socialism can be synthesized into something more practical and fair, healthy and against the forces of entropy. That and despite my knowledge of historical precedent. Yet, despite my ultra-far-right creds, I’m beginning to enjoy the news again. The positive vibes are infectious, and I kind of hate it. The virality of Trump’s vitality is just, frankly, powerful. I can stand to spare a glance at televised news again. But only momentarily. Don’t get me wrong, there was plenty of inane and stupid nonsense spoken aloud at the inauguration. And on Fox News on the regular. Plenty. But it really was more or less better than anything Kamala would’ve done. Oh, God!. Could you just imagine it? Kamala? On MLK jr day? Jesus. Jesus Christ. The media would’ve pissed down their legs in unison and shouted from the frozen rooftops that the first female black was elected to office and that God, for only a moment, had forgiven America for its racist past and present. But only for a moment.

he be pissin tho

So perhaps in a way this was the greatest. It could have been so much worse. It could have taken an even darker turn. It could have elevated Hillary Clinton back into the next DNC race. But we shouldn’t mistake our thankfulness of averting a nuclear meltdown (for now) for a safe, clean, and correctly operating power plant. This is still a radioactive site, no matter how cool, funny, or good the reigning project manager is. We are still living in an ongoing collapse, just not the “fun” part of it.

Please, don’t leave pessimism out in the cold

Just, keep it healthy and warm. Think of it once in a while. Don’t forget it, it’s a part of you. That part of you that really, deeply, cares about you and your survival. Cynicism and pessimism and even pattern recognition have kept you from playing out in the street, preparing for an upcoming market crash, and from believing that you’ve got an email from a real Nigerian prince who needs you to spot him a couple of bands.

Let’s just keep Trump’s high-energy vibrations at a healthy distance.
