Alyssa Milano, actress and quite vocal activist, is catching a bit of flak after posting on X a link to a GoFundMe for her son’s baseball team.
Alyssa Milano, who has been at the whole Hollywood game since the early 80s, had recently posted on her X a post asking for essentially donations to go towards her son’s baseball team. With a net worth around 10 million dollars as of 2024, it isn’t any wonder why she has received such criticize for the ordeal in the few short hours after her posting.
What’s more is the details of the GoFundMe campaign, where she is actually the one who started the account under her married name, Alyssa Bugliari.

She didn’t fail to mention how diverse and hardworking the team is in the campaign while firmly tucking her wallet in her back pocket. I suppose this is just the modern era where true philanthropy is dead and gone. Likely the case 20 years ago it would have been that a wealthy parent would have gladly donated the money themselves without broadcasting the situation online. And if your first argument is “Well yeah because those things didn’t exist back then,” I’ll just stop you there. Obviously.
It could be argued that she is using her millions of followers to broadcast a good, well-intentioned message that could result in a large sum of money for the little league baseball team. That may be true. However, the major issue is with the fact that she is the one the money is going to! It would be wholly different if it were someone who was detached from the family with millions of dollars and just shared it. What would be even classier is if she were to see what was gained from the donations on the GoFundMe and kindly tripled that number and did so quietly.
Instead, we have a celebrity who is worth multiple millions of dollars, creating a GoFundMe, and then asking for people to donate…to her!
Have no fear though, with the barrage of criticism, Alyssa quickly told people how much she contributes to the team. Which apparently seems to have drained her.

This is what the out of touch 1% in Hollywood who live in their ivory towers in the Beverly Hills think is reasonable. Or is this just someone who was trying to do something kind and foolishly made a GoFundMe under their name while also being a millionaire?
