An Israel made spy satellite was launched yesterday. What might it be doing?

On March 28th 2023, Israel launches its latest spy satellite after a hiatus of three years. Taking off from Seoul, South Korea at 4:10 pm PST the Shavit rocket which in translates from Hebrew into ‘comet’ has been in service since 1982.

This constellation of spy satellites currently amounts to 13. These satellite range in capabilities from electro-optical to synthetic aperture radar.

Israel Aerospace (state owned) said it’s “the most advanced of its kind with unique radar observation capabilities,”. This satellite has the capability of collecting intelligence regardless of current weather conditions.

This launch was but part of a series of actions made since the escalating tensions with Iran.

Israel is planning to launch its own space defense unit called Space Administration in order to “Explore ways for Israel to use space,”.
