With woke nonsense being pushed into every facet of American life, the Marines might just ban recruits addressing their leaders by “sir” or “ma’am”.
The Marine Corps paid $2 million for a study done by the University of Pittsburgh, which stated that the use of traditional words to address superiors was “holding back gender integration”. What does that mean you might ask yourself?
This means that the United States Marine Corps commissioned a woke university to gauge how the smallest percentage of their ranks feel about the use of the word sir or ma’am.

The study goes on to say, “By teaching recruits to use gender-neutral identifiers for their drill instructors, Services underscore the importance of respecting authoritative figures regardless of gender.”
This quote is attempting to make it sound like this isn’t just some easily accomplished propaganda scheme paid for by the taxpayer. It is painting a pretty picture of recruits respecting their leaders because they don’t acknowledge their gender by using these “gendered identifiers”. In the minds of the left the marines are apparently entirely misogynistic and think that recruits won’t get the life smoked out of them for being disrespectful.
You know what would make recruits learn the importance of respecting leadership and not letting gender be a deciding factor? Having them use sir or ma’am. A recruit who is acknowledging the gender of a drill instructor and obeying orders given demonstrate more respect regardless of the leader’s gender than this ridiculous solution.
The study then says, “Gendered identifiers prime recruits to think about or visually search for a drill instructor’s gender first before their rank or role.” What a mind-boggling conundrum. A recruit being the addled brained individuals they are cannot possibly be asked to appropriately identify who they are speaking with. That’s just too hard. This problem only makes sense if the world we live in is that which the left thinks we live. Where you are presented with a transgender person every corner you turn. Or at least half of these recruits’ drill instructors believe they are transgender.
But the reality is much like the rest of the United States the amount of transgender personnel in the military is minute. Less than 1%. That is a number I just threw out. In a 2016 Rand study (“Assessing the Implications of Allowing Transgender Personnel to Serve Openly,” estimated between 1,320 and 6,630 of 1.3 million active duty service members might identify as transgender. Going for the middle of the range estimate of 2,450 we get a percentage of, 0.18%.
This study that was done spurred on serious debate whether the Marines should not allow recruits to say sir or ma’am. Keep in mind that the 0.18% of service members who might identify as transgender account for individuals across the military, not just the Marine Corps. That number is even smaller when you isolate it between the branches.
Let us for the sake of argument, get a rough estimation of the percentage of transgendered Marines. We will use the 2016 study to get the estimations. We are taking the 0.18% and splitting it evenly amongst the branches. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. That comes to 0.036% for each branch. That percentage of personnel for the Marines is 7,300 out of 202,786 if we are going by 2009 numbers. Which is a very gracious estimation seeing as the military is having a heck of a time with retention and recruitment.
It was recommended by a woke university that took $2 million over two years to tell the Marine Corps that less than .036% of their personnel have a weird feeling when people use the terms sir or ma’am when addressing them. Proposed doctrinal change seems to be the only answer. At the same time the drill instructors and other leaders would tell the recruits after being denied leave, “Suck it up you’re in the Marines.”
This all is a load of woke bull crap. Look at the numbers and apply this to the United States. The left wants to pass legislation protecting a minute fraction of the population’s feelings instead of providing them the mental health care they actually need.
